The Drone Dome is a high energy laser-based weapon system developed by Rafael since 2016 to counter swarms of drones and unveiled in February 2020. The weapon system is mounted on all-terrain mobility along with the sensors and fire control systems. The new laser weapon system may be deployed beginning in 2021 to complement the Iron Dome counter rocket, artillery and mortar (C-RAM) weapon system within a multi-layered defense strategy.
The Iron Beam is an evolution expected to be fielded within the Israel Defense Force (IDF) in 2025 to counter drones, rocket, artillery and mortar threats. The system costs over $1,000 per shot and is effective at a distance of several kilometers.
